This 6-week yoga series offers practical tools to help develop mind-body awareness, positive self-image, and resiliency in their journey to adulthood. This series is designed to support teen girls with the following through mindful movement and breathing techniques:
Manage stress and anxiety
Improve focus and academic performance
Promote positive body image, self-acceptance and boost confidence
Improve physical health: strength, flexibility, posture
Offer community and support within student cohort
Help emotional regulation and overall resilience
Class size will be limited to 10 students to ensure focused attention on student needs.
Class Agenda
Each 60-minute class will offer the following format of centering, physical practice, and final reflection:
Welcome and practice introduction
Yoga practice: the types of yoga offered will vary between the following to introduce students to different modalities:
vinyasa yoga: a flow class for strength building, balance, and focus
restorative yoga: relaxation-focused with use of yoga props like blocks and blankets to create restful, restorative poses
yoga/Pilates combo: low-impact, functional movement focusing on core strength and stability

This timing considers the timing of Spring Break and EOG testing, so students may apply the resources learned in class to prepare for testing and the transition into summer (and beyond!)
